Today is the birthday of Cesar Chavez (who sadly passed away in 1993), the famous Mexican-American farm worker, labor leader and civil rights activist (helped found the UFW)! Born on this day in 1927 in Arizona, his birthday has already become a holiday in eight states; however Barack Obama and many others are trying to push for it to become nationalized! So in honor of Mr. Chavez's amazing deeds, post up promotional political flyers supporting this customized campaign! It's a great day to also pull out your personalized patriotic gear and show how proud you are of American and its people!

I AM IN CONTROL!
Today is I am in Control Day, which recognizes the quote taken from Secretary of State, Alexander Haig on this date in 1981 when there was an assassination attempt on President Reagan. Instead of focusing upon the entire statement, people and the press focused upon these few words. Political uproar eventually led to his resignation. Now Alexander Haig's statement is all but forgotten. Meanwhile, this special day continued on, and evolved. People came to think about this day in a different context. They personalized it into a day to get their life in control. In that sense, today is definitely a call to action. "I am in Control Day" is your chance to get things in order and under control. So grab yourself a personalized planner and maybe a promotional calendar to organize your life and take it under your control!

The Invention of Coca Cola
On this date one hundred and fourteen years ago, the first batch of Coca Cola was created in Dr. John Pemberton's backyard in Atlanta. Originally intended as a hangover cure, Pemberton advertised the promotional drink as a "brain tonic and intellectual beverage" and officially began selling it to the public on May 8. But honestly, that date isn't as important as the day on which it was created! Coca-Cola is a gigantic, world-recognized company that is consumed virtually everywhere and sponsors an enormous amount of events. It's insane to think that one of the world's most popular products was created in an Atlanta backyard as a cure to the hangover, and almost makes one laugh. If only Dr. Pemberton could see what his invention has turned into. So to celebrate this great date, and the globalization that Coke has helped promote, why not grab custom global themed collection koozie and enjoy the world's favorite soft drink! Given the significance of today, some cans of Coca Cola would also be the perfect logoed tradeshow giveaway!

Bangladeshi Independence Day
Today commemorates Bangladesh's gaining of independence from West Pakistan. On this day in 1971, the members of East Pakistan (now known as Bangladesh) declared their freedom from West Pakistan (Now Pakistan, and all the way across India from Bangladesh) leading to a nine month war in which Bangladesh finally achieved independence. So to celebrate this nation for acquiring its independence you should put up some promotional patriotic items and maybe wear some custom light up buttons!

This Submarine's Not Going Green
People think that March 17th is all about St. Patrick’s Day, and so I say…let people think. I do, and what I do is celebrate Submarine Day. And no, I am not talking about the sandwich; I’m talking about the awesome submersible boats that shoot down large ships! Talk about a holiday worth submersing yourself into!
So what is it that makes submarines awesome, you might ask? Well here's an equation I came up with to make it simple, basically it’s spaceships of the sea + blows stuff up + goes underwater + the Beatles (Yellow Submarine anyone) = AWESOME. How can you possibly make an argument against celebrating this much looked over holiday (and everyone is NOT Irish on St. Paddy’s)? So plug into your promotional mp3 players kicking it to Yellow Submarine and go grab some of your favorite submarine movies (I recommend the Life Aquatic and The Hunt for Red October to start with). And just for kicks, check out this awesome submarine stress ball…talk about taking on pressure.

Barbie's 51st Birthday
Despite the fact that she doesn't have a single wrinkle or gray hair, today is Barbie's 51st birthday! This popular toy has been a staple of pop culture (and little girls' toyboxes) since it was unveiled at the 1959 New York Toy Fair. Fun fact: Barbie's full name is Barbie Millicent Roberts. Mrs. Roberts has had over 50 different occupations in her lifetime, ranging from Cat Burglar to President of the United States. That's one well-rounded doll!
You can celebrate Barbie's birthday with personalized birthday cards and maybe even a slice of plastic birthday cake. Happy birthday Barbie!

National Clean Up Your IRS Act Month
For those who haven't been on top of their taxes, this is the month for you! National Clean Up Your IRS Act is a month-long event sponsored by the American Society of Tax Problem Solvers, a national non-profit organization.
Unpaid taxes? Claimed non-existent dependents? Kidnapped the neighbor's kids just for the tax breaks? It's time to reach out to tax service professionals for some professional help!
Although most of us would rather the IRS clean up it's act, it might be wise to celebrate this event just for the sake of staying out of prison.
