Bloomsday

'Joyce' to the World!

Re-Joyce cause June is in Full Bloom! The perfect time of year for Bloomsday, the zany holiday celebrating Ireland’s acclaimed author, James Joyce. Bloomsday, celebrated every June 16th since 1954, gets its name from the protagonist in Joyce’s novel Ulysses, Leopold Bloom. Fans of Joyce celebrate Bloomsday by visiting Dublin landmarks featured in the influential modernist novel.

However, if wearing late-Edwardian threads isn’t your thing and you cannot make it to Davy Byrnes Pub in Dublin to celebrate, enjoy this zany holiday at your own home or favorite pub. Start the day off with an Irish breakfast; make sure to have a glass of burgundy and some gorgonzola! Of course, you can always pick up Ulysses (or another Joyce book) and read on Bloomsday!
