On this day 220 years ago, the state of Connecticut ratified the constitution, joining Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Georgia. There's plenty to discover and celebrate about Connecticut, and here are a few tidbits for your amusement.
I bet you did not know it, but Connecticut is historically known as "the nutmeg state" because of voyages that brought in nutmeg in the 18th and 19th centuries when Connecticut was still a colony. Other random facts about Connecticut include its state insect (the praying mantis) and its state animal (the sperm whale).
Despite certain oddities about this great state, it has produced some noteworthy people, including Eli Whitney, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Katherine Heigl, and Keith Richards.
So what can you do to celebrate this great holiday? Why not give away some promotional spices to celebrate the nutmeg tradition, or show your Connecticut pride with a variety of patriotic products.
