About 120 years ago today, people decided that they were tired of counting on fingers and abacuses. This day marks the anniversary of the day the patent was granted to Dorr Eugene Felt for the first adding machine to be completely accurate, aka the COMPTOMETER!!! It sounds more like some fierce fighting machine than one that counts. Nonetheless, thanks Mr. Felt...my accounting midterm would have been a lot more challenging and time consuming if you had never invented the COMPTOMETER!!!
As cool as the COMPTOMETER! sounds, I'm pretty sure the updated versions (calculators) give you more bang for your buck these days. Anyway, let's all cheers to Mr. Felt, and verify for yourself that 23489234.66x93423748.01= 2194452339823598.0266 with promotional calculators. If you're not a math person, you can also spell out some words on calculators if you flip them over, like "hello" and other words...
